Pick-Up & Drop-Off 2023-24

Chaparral Star Academy is a unique environment, and part of that is our drop-off & pick-up procedures.  This is especially true at noontime when both morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off are happening at the same time. Overall, the procedure can be simplified to:

GET IN LINE

STAY IN LINE

FOLLOW STAFF

We ask that drivers follow the procedures outlined below:

ENTERING & MAINTAINING ONE LINE

entering the line

To help keep the line flowing in a quick manner, please remember the following:
  • Enter line from Wells Branch (i.e. not from Howard, not from Summit and not from side road)
  • Enter line at the end of the line regardless if you are K & 1, Drop Off or Pick Up
  • End of line may be far up along Summit close to Wells Branch
  • Always maintain ONE LINE
  • Do not "cut" or "leap frog" over other cars
  • The line will move quickly. Staff members are positioned to make the traffic flow as quick as possible.

SAGE ADVICE
Arriving at 12:00pm to pick up your morning student is the quickest method. By that point, there is typically little traffic and it will take you no time at all to pick up your child and get on your way.

FLOW OF TRAFFIC

To help keep the line flowing in a quick manner, please remember the following:
  • K & 1st grade are separated from the main circle.
  • Unfortunately, there is no parking available. All parents/drivers must remain in his/her vehicle as staff members will help students load & unload.
  • Do not "cut" or "leap frog" over other cars.
  • Allow for K&1 vehicles ahead of you to turn right into the parking lot. Do not "cut" or "leap frog" over them if you are drop off or pick up.
  • Pick-Up drivers should allow time for drop-off to unload students. Do not "cut" or "leap frog" over them to get ahead of them/further down the line.
  • The line will move quickly. Staff members are positioned to make the traffic flow as quick as possible.
  • Drop-Off drivers should move quickly to unload students. Having backpacks, etc. ready to go as soon as doors open is the most efficient method.

KEEP MOVING
Though it may be tempting to drop-off students where the sidewalk to the awning meets the road,
KEEP MOVING FORWARD to avoid creating a gap

keep moving

To help keep the line flowing in a quick manner, please remember the following:
  • Drop Off should drive up all the way to the 5th tree if there is room
  • If cars are still moving, do not stop
  • Always maintain ONE LINE
  • Do not "cut" or "leap frog" over other cars
  • The line will move quickly. Staff members are positioned to make the traffic flow as quick as possible.

CAN I PARK TO PICK UP MY STUDENT?
Though it may be tempting to park to avoid the line, there are no spaces directly surrounding the school. Please refer to the image below for more detail.
Furthermore, if a parent does park in the allowed area, the parent must walk to the front of school to collect his/her child. K-8th grade students will not be allowed to cross traffic to meet parents.
