K-2nd Grade Promotion

Chaparral Star Academy will use a skills-based approach to determine grade promotion for K-2nd grade.  Grade specific skill set indicators can be found below, along with a rubric explaining how respective teachers will determine each student's progression toward meeting standard for each indicator.  Student progression will be indicated as such:

Parents can access the most current report card via Parent Portal.  The report card will indicate the student's progression for each skill set indicator. 
 
 

GRADE ADVANCEMENT POLICY

A K-2nd grade student shall be promoted to the subsequent grade if his or her end-of-year report card reflects all three of the following:

  1. Is marked at or above grade level in reading denoting that the student has acquired a “Met Standard” rating on at least half of the indicators.
  2. Is marked at or above grade level in writing denoting that the student has acquired a “Met Standard” rating on at least half of the indicators.
  3. Is marked at or above grade level in mathematics denoting that the student has acquired a “Met Standard” rating on at least half of the indicators.
